Unemployment more than 400

The number of people going to Edward T. Wheadon House to sign on for unemployment benefit has risen.
THE number of people unemployed in Guernsey has climbed to 411, it was announced this morning.
Last month 343 people were registered as unemployed – at this time last year he figure was 255.
Social Security’s latest figure represents 1.25% of the working population.
This includes 19 on the Community and Environmental Projects Scheme.
Of the other 392, 64 were in part-time or casual employment during the week ending 31 January.

Voice for Victims is a campaign aimed at promoting the rights of those affected by child sexual abuse.

I know in the current economical climate that number isnt that many. But why dont these people just look in the newspaper! There are plenty of jobs, albeit maybe not the best jobs, but beggars cant be choosers. Also half of these will be single parents on benefits anyway.
