ST SAVIOUR’S could pull out of Barclays Evening League Division One this summer.

The light blues are one of the oldest clubs in the island with a proud tradition, but they are currently in disarray with a lack of cricketers good enough for the top flight.

They are also without a captain.

‘We’ve got a shortage of players,’ admitted St Saviour’s all-rounder and stalwart Spencer Noyon. ‘For the last four or five years we’ve struggled in the evening league. It’s always difficult [to get a side out] when you lose more than you win.

‘We don’t want to weaken the rest of the club for the sake of first team. It’s about striking a happy balance.’

Noyon also said that they had a number of players retiring, including Phil Challenger.

The medium pace bowler had resorted to bowling off-spin in the last couple of seasons to great effect and will sorely be missed.

They will also be without Ben Taylor this campaign.
