THE Yorkshire Guernsey Men’s basketball Division One continues to be a tight affair.
This year’s top flight has been a close-run thing with teams taking points off each other and not one side seizing control of proceedings.
And it continued in this vein on Wednesday night as bottom-placed Le Mont Saint Fiat took care of their club-mates and league leaders Le Mont Saint, 71-62.
‘It was a good team performance, and that’s why we won it,’ said Fiat’s Mark Barnett.
‘We started off well and managed to maintain it throughout the game whereas in previous games we’ve started well but we’ve always allowed teams to claw back at us.’
Fiat ended the first quarter 16-6 up and by half-time were ahead 35-13.
Saints took the third quarter 19-11, but Fiat came strong again in the final quarter to claim the honours by nine points.
