THE MAN who sold the Vazon Bay Hotel to fraudster Alan Jackson feels his sentence was not long enough.

This week Alan Jackson was sent to prison for 18 months after he admitted perjury and creating a false document.

He had conned businesses into believing that he could guarantee debts by producing a fake document claiming that he would inherit half-a-million pounds.

He then attempted to sue Tony Gover (pictured), from whom he had purchased several businesses. However, police investigating this claim turned their suspicions to Jackson upon the discovery of the fake document.

Tony Gover, who runs the Golden Lion, the last remaining business back in his control, said he felt that justice had been done.

‘I’ve been vindicated,’ he said. ‘I’m still paying but the nightmare is over for me. He should have got a lot more [than 18 months’ imprisonment].’

Jackson had bought several businesses from Mr Gover, including the Vazon Bay Hotel, the Steakhouse and its bar, No 44, The Wayside Tavern and the America Bar upstairs, Island Delivery and the Golden Lion.
