THE threat of relegation has become a big motivational tool for Guernsey in the rest of their London Three South-West campaign.

First team captain Simon Sharrott admitted that a drop down the league ladder was not out of the question, but rather than fear that danger, he wanted a positive reaction from his players.

‘As a squad we have discussed the possibilities of relegation if we lose too many more games and we have taken that on board,’ Sharrott said.

‘As you can see from the previous game [against London Irish Amateur], we won, so that is a positive start and we will want to carry that into this weekend’s game against [London] Cornish.

Guernsey overcame Cornish 25-6 at Foote’s Lane in early October, but that was one of only three defeats for the London outfit so far this campaign and they currently sit third in the league.

‘We will go into the game major underdogs from a league position and recent results,’ said Sharrott.
