IT WAS a far from happy Valentine’s Day for North on Saturday.

Not only did Mick Le Prevost’s side lose ground on Bels in the race for the Priaulx Cup, but they might have lost island star Gavin Le Page for the rest of the season.

There was no-one within five yards of the chocolate-and-blues midfielder when his foot got stuck in a muddy patch at Northfield as he tried to change direction and went down in agony.

Immediately he signalled to be substituted and play was stopped for five minutes as he received treatment before being carried off.

Initial fears that it might be a recurrence of his cruciate ligament injury had subsided by the end of the game, but his coach expects him to be out of action for the foreseeable future.

‘I hope it is not too serious. I think he has twisted it more than anything,’ Le Prevost said.

‘But that is still going to be six to eight weeks at least, so I would be surprised if he played again this season. I am gutted for him. He is a top lad who works really hard and he had already had his fair share of bad injuries.’
