Jobs available at higher levels – recruitment firm

Source Recruitment Specialists is reassuring those currently looking for a new position or considering a change in career or employer that there are plenty of companies still looking for staff, despite the news that the unemployment figure for the island has passed 400.

But senior consultant Tony Jones, pictured, admitted it was tougher at the lower end of the job market.

Last month, 343 people were registered as unemployed with Social Security. At this time last year, the figure was 255.

Source has more than 250 vacancies on its books.

‘There has been much media coverage about job losses and a general feeling of negativity and that cannot be ignored,’ said Mr Jones.

‘However, good news is rarely reported and I’m feeling very positive about the current employment market in Guernsey.

‘Although the unemployment figure has regrettably increased, it’s important to stress that there are still a large number of vacancies in Guernsey at all levels, in all business sectors and companies continue to expand and create new opportunities.’

My place of birth is Peterborough and at the moment I only have a part time job within the NHS. Believe you me I have tried and tried to get a full time job and at the moment it is a dead loss. The Jobcentreplus is rubbish and all they think about is being comfortable with their job. They don’t have any understanding whatsoever to the people out of work to them it is all a big joke!
