LOCAL players have been learning from a top German coach this week.
Karsten Reeg is in the island to run a training camp as part of the Deutsche Bank Table Tennis Development Programme.
The 26-year-old from Frankfurt was head coach at a Switzerland National Centre.
‘It is important for the Guernsey Table Tennis Association to welcome coaches to Guernsey so they can assess our set up and coaching ethos and bring in fresh ideas for us to try,’ said GTTA President Derek Webb.
‘While this is Karsten’s first visit to Guernsey, we are hopeful that it will not be his last.
‘The Deutsche Bank Development Programme goes from strength to strength and we are also aiming to discuss coaching development with Karsten more generally, with a view to possible future visits to Germany.’
Reeg has been putting the Guernsey elite junior squad through their paces during the day, while running coaching sessions for under-12 players and the island’s senior players in the evenings.
