LA CARRIERE Stables’ winter jumping championships provided an exciting climax to a memorable season.
‘What a fantastic season once again and, yes, we will be back next winter,’ said organiser Jenny Froome.
‘Special thanks to judges Mandy de la Cour and Kathy Broe-Bougourd, course builders Lesley Johnson and James Edwards and paddock executives Michelle Guillot and Lisa Copeland.’
The day started with Daisy Black riding Pineapple into the arena, very capably led by mum Rachel. They had a clear round and again were first to go in the jump-off.
They put up a very good time but known for her speed, Vanessa Brown leading Aaron Renouf riding Lulu were next to go and they knocked one second off their time – even though Renouf had a wobbly moment to contend with.
Eloise Martin-Sarre managed to keep her perfect position and helped Aunty Juliet to urge Tonkel Silverstar just 0.26 seconds faster to take first place.
Fourth went to Alice Allen who was riding Popsy without the leading rein for most of the time.
First-timer Ashleigh Burtenshaw rode Pie into a very commendable fifth while sixth went to Giarda Borcelli, who rode in a very good jumping position ‘giving’ with her hands over every fence, and seventh was tiny Caitlin Torode and Flymo, who were off the leading rein the entire time and kept perfect control.
