THE Channel Islands’ top youngsters were tested to the full when the Rohais Halls hosted the second triangular-match series between Guernsey, Jersey and Surrey.

With assistance from Guernsey Electricity, the top 20 under-17 juniors from Surrey came to the island to compete along with eight from each of the islands.

To be able to meet the requirement, both Jersey and Guernsey had to field a couple of players over the required age.

The weekend consisted of a team challenge event on the Saturday followed by a singles and level doubles event on the Sunday.

A huge amount of badminton was played with every match of the highest quality.

‘All the coaches agreed that this standard of play was exactly what the CI players need and that we were extremely lucky to have such superb visitors from Surrey and the financial assistance of Guernsey Electricity,’ said Guernsey Badminton Association president John Stuart, who organised the event with his wife Angela.
