Pan-island Law Officers’ review likely

JERSEY would be willing to cooperate with Guernsey on a review of the role of the Crown Officers in the States.
Its Council of Ministers is working on terms of reference for its investigation, which will include the roles of the Bailiff, Attorney-General and Solicitor-General, and is set to report back in March .
The Jersey States could then be asked whether to co-operate on the review – but only if Guernsey wanted it to.
Jersey Chief Minister Terry Le Sueur (pictured) said he would be happy to consult Guernsey and talk to Chief Minister Lyndon Trott about that.
‘Jersey made a specific decision that didn’t include Guernsey and I may have to ask for that to be changed if there was a willingness on the Guernsey side,’ said Senator Le Sueur.
‘I’ve had no indication from the Guernsey side to have this review, and if Guernsey doesn’t I wouldn’t want to force it.’
Senator Le Sueur added that while there were similarities in the Crown Officers’ roles in the islands, there were also differences.
