SENIOR riders turned out in good number at the weekend for the BSJA’s jumping rally over a single-phase course set by Barry Bartlett.
In this type of competition, riders are required to jump all 13 fences on the course, the last five being run against the clock. The flowing track meant there were some close times recorded.
Sunny Boy, owned by John Pollard but piloted by Leanne Gallienne, proved he had enjoyed his winter holiday and was ready to give his younger rivals a run for their money.
They took the first place in the 0.70m class and recorded a very creditable fifth in the 0.75m.
Paullette King made a welcome return to competitive riding on her chestnut horse, Classique, but decided to give him a steady run this first time out.
Sam Gervaise-Brazier and Dazzling Gold seem to be settling in to their relationship and will, undoubtedly, be a force to be reckoned with as the season progresses.
