Eyes down for Georgina

07182461.jpgA BINGO night in aid of Georgina’s Gang is planned for Sunday 8 March.

Organised by local fund-raising group Lace, the event is at L’Islet Bingo Hall, near the Royal British Legion.

Entry is £1 with all proceeds going towards the appeal, launched in the Guernsey Press, for 12-year-old terminally ill Georgina Pearce (pictured) who suffers from a rare genetic illness that causes early dementia.

Niemann-Pick Type C affects just one in 150,000 people. Youngsters with the neurodegenerative disease will usually not survive into adulthood.

Well-wishers throughout the island are trying to help her parents, Tania and Ian, raise £90,000 to adapt the family home at Cobo so that Georgina can spend her remaining time with them in safe and supportive surroundings.

The bingo evening is just one of several events planned by Lace, which stands for Locals Assisting with Charitable Events.

Doors open at 6pm with eyes down at 7pm. Tickets are available now from chairwoman Sue Kirk and seats are said to be selling fast, though tickets can be bought on the night.

The fund-raiser will also feature a raffle with prizes donated by various companies.

Fellow Lace organiser Laura McLean said: ‘We would like to thank everyone who has donated to the evening and is planning to come along. Also, a big thank-you to Carol and Maureen at the bingo hall who have helped us organise the evening.

‘A lot of people are getting behind Georgina’s Gang.

‘This little girl’s story has touched many people’s hearts. We just wanted to do our bit to help.’
