Drifting boat is rescued
Monday 2nd March 2009, 2:29PM GMT.
A JERSEY-REGISTERED boat broke away from its mooring in Havelet on Saturday.
The boat came loose in choppy seas and was drifting towards the Castle Emplacement wall.
Harbour staff in a dory were helped by the crews of several local boats in towing it to safety.
‘One boat pulled it backwards out of the corner and then they managed to get a rope on to the bow,’ said witness Colin Le Conte.
Nigel Le Page also saw the incident, as did the owner of the boat, who watched the rescue unfold from the slipway.
