Schema in action at the Battle of the Bands.
SCHEMA won Breda’s Battle of the Bands in fine style.
The final was on Friday night at the Fermain Tavern and saw four very different bands go head-to-head for the title.
But it was the four-piece that proved their worth and won the title. Along with a trophy, they won a recording session as well as the chance to perform live on Island FM.
‘We are quite proud to have won something sponsored by Breda,’ said bass player Tom Bradshaw.
‘We have dedicated so much of our lives to drinking it. Now we have got something back.’
The band, comprising John Sealey on lead guitar, Mr Bradshaw and James Morvan on guitar and vocals and Simon Prince on drums, spent most of the weekend celebrating. ‘Obviously we are very pleased,’ said Mr Bradshaw. ‘If nothing else, there were some fantastic bands involved. It was a very competitive final and very well organised. It was a really good experience for us.’
The band said that all the other competitors had given polished performances on the night and Schema had not expected to win.
They were up against About an Hour, The Raffle and Rawcuz Crowzz.
