‘Track’ brought back for the Muratti
Tuesday 3rd March 2009, 2:29PM GMT.
Bels take on St Paul’s at the Track in last year’s Upton Park Cup final. The venue is due to host the Muratti final this year.
AFTER eight years away, the Track is again to be used for a Muratti final.
The GFA confirmed the decision today and GFA chairman Mark Le Tissier hoped the move would bring Guernsey a change of luck – that is assuming they beat Alderney in the semi-final. ‘Foote’s Lane has not proved to be a lucky venue as far as results are concerned,’ he said.
A recent Guernsey Press online poll saw a slightly bigger percentage of voters back Foote’s Lane, which has staged the game on alternate years since 2003.
Le Tissier said he was surprised with that result as his committee had received a 210-name petition calling for the historic fixture to return to its traditional Sarnian home.
