0731988.jpgGUERNSEY is gearing up for the most radical change to the island’s planning law in 40 years.

More than 100 people attended a Planning for Change conference yesterday that explained much of what is being brought in.

The audience was largely made up of architects, builders and politicians, all of whom were pleased with the new regulations.

‘It’s fantastic,’ said BAS Mooarc’s design director Jamie Falla (pictured).

‘We have been given full consultation and information. My only concern is whether staffing levels will be able to cope with the extra workload.’

The principal at Falla Associates International, David Falla, felt the new system would be an improvement.

‘The UK planning system is flexible,’ he said.

‘By adopting a similar system here, it will help speed things up.’
