TWO snowy owls may now be resident in the island.
After another sighting on Saturday, conservationist Jamie Hooper said sightings of the bird seemed to have overlapped.
‘We think that there might be two birds around, which is remarkable.
We found a bird in the Les Beaucamps High area and at the same time had a report of a bird on Lihou – but we don’t know whether there is still one in Alderney.
Mr Hooper estimated that there are now up to three of the birds – between Guernsey and Alderney.
‘It is exceptional to see the snowy owls here.
‘We have only ever had one or two sightings in the Channel Islands.
He said the owls seemed to be doing very well in Guernsey.
‘Hopefully, they are attacking some of the rats and vermin here’
