Demolition work starts at Mont Arrive

WORK started on a new Guernsey Housing Association project yesterday.
The former States houses at Mont Arrive are being knocked down to make way for a development of 15 bungalows designed for older islanders.
Bob Froome and Sons began work yesterday morning by digging up the car park before demolition of the houses starts.
The job is expected to take six to seven weeks.
Of the new build, Guernsey Housing Association chief executive Steve Williams (pictured) said: ‘We have to get all the formal applications and we have to put out to tender for the contractors. We thought it would be good to get the demolition work started.
‘We’ve put in the applications for the new build and will probably start that in September, but we would like it earlier if we can.’
The development will mean that States houses currently occupied by older residents can be freed up for younger families.

Jackie: To make smaller ones. As when there are more people then ever needing help with housing, smaller houses is the answer! (Note Sarcasm)
I do feel for the ‘older residents’ being kicked out there homes for teenage mums though.
