Intersurgical invests £0.5m.
Wednesday 11th March 2009, 2:30PM GMT.
MANUFACTURER Intersurgical will increase production of filter products in Guernsey by five million in six months’ time after a £500,000 investment.
The company, which employs 100 people in the island, has bought a new production line that will up its manufacturing capacity from 10 million units to 15 million a year.
The new machine will also signal the manufacturing return to the island of one of its filter product ranges that moved to Lithuania six years because of cheaper production costs in Eastern Europe.
Operations manager Aiden Kennedy (pictured) said the investment was not only good news for Intersurgical but for the island in a time of economic doom and gloom.
‘With the UK manufacturing industry being at such a low, Intersurgical is bucking the trend with forecasted group growth in excess of 12%.’
