THE Sarnia Skittles Club men’s individual knockout involved four hours of play at the Hampshire Lodge.
Title-holder and main contender for quite a few seasons C. Veron had a surprising defeat in the first round losing to Geoff Browning.
Browning then fought hard in the quarter-final against relative newcomer and fellow Sapper Ashley Harrison to make a semi-final spot.
Brian Holden, after a narrow victory over Ian Barker in the preliminary round, took on Barker’s Clipper colleague John Dodd, which again went to the wire to Holden’s advantage.
Holden kept his nerve in the quarter-final against a new Lungy’s Legends player Wayne Coutanche.
Experience showed although Holden had a few nervous moments, but victory gave him a semi-final against Gary Le Page.
Le Page had gained his last-four place by defeating Clipper Jeff Vidamour in the preliminary round, club president Jeff Guilbert in the first round and Lungy’s Phil Trouteaud in the quarter-final.
The remaining semi-final place went to fellow Guys N Dolls player Paul Wakeham, who had beaten Ali McClean, Brian Keutzer and fellow team member Gary Robilliard.
