Thursday 12th March 2009, 11:30AM GMT.
JAMES WARREN was found guilty yesterday of maliciously wounding Paul Fletcher (pictured) at last year’s Vale Earth Fair.
Mr Fletcher had the tip of his nose bitten off by Warren after intervening when he believed the accused was about to attack his then girlfriend Laura Sweet.
After nearly two hours of deliberation, senior Jurat Derek Le Page told the Royal Court that they had reached their decision by a 9-1 majority.
An alternative charge of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent on Mr Fletcher was dismissed unanimously.
Sentencing of Warren, 21, of Vidcocq, La Bailloterie Lane, Vale, was adjourned until 2.30pm on Friday 1 May for to allow time for reports to be prepared.
He was bailed with conditions.
Warren claimed that Mr Fletcher had attacked him.
Mr Fletcher said he had been holding Warren on the ground by his arms in an effort to restrain him when Warren bit his nose.
Warren entered not guilty pleas to both charges.
The court heard that he had been convicted of causing criminal damage and of drink-driving in 2007.
