GUERNSEY go into tomorrow’s Star Trophy on the back of a very successful tour of London.
The island under-15 team recently defeated two district sides from the capital and their new coach Mark Ingrouille believes it has put them in good stead for when they face Jersey at the Corbet Field.
‘It was very good and it has given the boys a good insight into stronger opposition than they are used to here,’ said the St Sampson’s High PE teacher.
‘They played good football – feeding it through the midfield and the pace of the boys really showed as well. We’ve really got some quick boys and they were out running the English guys.’
In their first game, the Greens comfortably took care of Newham 7-3.
Elizabeth College’s Joe Alvarez bagged himself a hat-trick in the rout.
The other goals came courtesy of Will Garnett with two, Ross Hanley and Stephen Renouf.
However, the second match against Waltham Forest proved to be a tougher affair.
The Sarnians came away with a 1-0 victory with Sam Hall getting the solitary goal.
But Guernsey were indebted to their goalkeeper Tom Pattimore for the win.
