Thursday 19th March 2009, 2:29PM GMT.
FOREST and St Martin’s Primary school have achieved the Healthy School Award for the second year running.
Both schools received the award as part of a presentation on Monday that also recognised the achievements of personal, social and health education [PSHE] teachers from around the island.
The schemes are part of a national effort to support the teaching of the PSHE in schools and raise its status as a subject.
Each school had to produce evidence that they had met more than 40 different criteria looking at all aspects of healthy eating, emotional health and well being, physical activity and PSHE.
Five teachers and a school nurse received a certificate in PSHE Continuing Professional Development and were congratulated by Health and Social Services Minister Hunter Adam and Education Minister Carol Steere.
