VISITGUERNSEY’S brochure has achieved national recognition.p7tourism.jpg

At the 2009 Travel Marketing Awards, the leading national awards for excellence both for the travel trade and visitor destinations, Guernsey was entered in the best brochure category.

It had the highest number of entries of any category and Guernsey’s brochure, designed by local creative agency The Partnership, won a Silver Commendation.

It was beaten to the top prize only by Virgin Holidays Worldwide Brochure.

Chris Elliott, director of marketing and tourism for VisitGuernsey, said: ‘For Guernsey’s marketing material to be judged by professional industry experts to be second only to Virgin’s, whose budget is many times bigger than ours, is a terrific tribute to the team here at VisitGuernsey and to The Partnership, our creative agency here on the island. This goes to show that the judges felt our marketing is right up there with the best in the UK travel industry.’

Commerce and Employment minister Carla McNulty Bauer added: ‘We were delighted when we heard that our brochure had been shortlisted but to come second in a competition as prestigious as this proves that marketing is one of the many areas where Guernsey punches hugely above its weight.

‘Congratulations to all involved.’

Previous winners of the award include VisitBritain.

Accolades to beautiful Guernsey for beating out so much ‘Holiday Brochure’ competition. All residents should take a look at Herm Island’s brochure too. Half the world away I received a copy in the mail recently. It is a brilliant production and, thank God, Herm Island is untouched and gorgeous, as it was in my younger days of the fifties. Well done everyone!
