Priaulx takes to the podium twice
Monday 23rd March 2009, 2:29PM GMT.
ANDY PRIAULX has turned his fortunes round in the last two weeks, leaving the second weekend of the 2009 FIA World Touring Car Championship at the Puebla track in Mexico with two podium positions thanks to third in race one and second in race two.
The BMW Team UK driver, who qualified second quickest behind Augusto Farfus on Saturday, was delighted with his car from the word go and believed one that was good straight away would stay that way the entire weekend.
‘I really feel that was one of the best races of my career and in many ways feel as if I have won it,’ Priaulx said.
‘At this track the grip of the circuit suited our car, which had a great balance.
‘However, trying to overtake was very difficult and that is the reason I was not able to get by Yvan Muller in the second race,’ added the Guernsey driver after two very hard-fought races.
A fantastic haul of 14 points certainly exceeded Priaulx’s expectations going into the weekend.
