Hussey makes cut for Wales

GUERNSEY has produced its first full international netballer.
Kerrie Hussey (pictured) has been selected for the Wales senior squad.
The 25-year-old Sarnian has lived in Swansea for the last three-and-a-half years and is eligible under residency rules to play for her adopted country.
While playing for her county team, Afan Nedd Tawe, at a nationally-organised tournament, she was scouted by one of the national selectors and asked to attend trials last month.
And the former island, Nerine Trust and School of Excellence player was successful in making the 12-strong squad.
‘I’m really, really chuffed for her,’ said her old coach and the doyenne of local netball, Gill Queripel.
‘I had her since the age six or seven and I’m really, really pleased. It’s good to see a Guernsey girl get into an international squad.
‘She’s done so well. It’s absolutely brilliant.’
