Jersey win for Watson

HEATHER WATSON has recorded her first senior victory.
The 16-year-old Sarnian star won her opening match yesterday in the Ladies Caversham Tournament at Les Ormes in Jersey against fellow wild card Jade Curtis.
Watson edged a tight first set 7-5 before Curtis levelled the match by taking the next 6-4.
However, Watson powered through the decider 6-1 to progress through to today’s second round.
She will now face a much tougher test in Katie O’Brien, the Great Britain No. 4.
