Stuart expects team to deliver the goods

GUERNSEY are ultra-confident of success in the basketball inter-insular.
The Greens have won the annual big match for the last two years and their player-coach Jeff Stuart (pictured) intimated that they are unlikely to give up the title on their home court at Beau Sejour tomorrow.
‘We’re not even focusing on the result,’ he said.
‘We’re looking to go and do what we do. We know that if we do that it’s not even going to be a close contest.
‘We’ve seen Jersey’s line-up and they are bringing nothing really new across with them. OK, they’re bringing a few new players, but no one significant.’
While Jersey may not pose much of a test for Stuart, who likes to think of himself as the ‘Cerebral Assassin’, what clearly has been a challenge for him has been naming a final squad of 12 players.
‘It’s been a tough selection because we’ve got 25 guys who could all put on the green jersey and do a job,’ he said.
A few of the players he has left out include upcoming big men Dan Marriott and Scott Rowe and veteran guard Jamie Roussel.
