Herm-shot film goes on sale
Wednesday 1st April 2009, 2:00PM BST.
A FILM that was shot in Herm is now on sale.
Monkeyshine is currently available only on Amazon.com due to exclusive early-release rights, however it will be accessible through the co.uk site shortly.
The film was produced by Guernseyman Gene Fallaize and includes Guernsey and Herm residents as extras.
Mr Fallaize, who now divides his time between London and Los Angeles, said that when he knew the script needed a deserted island, Herm was his first choice.
‘A challenge was set to us to make a low budget film with a new casting crew and it had to be filmed in the British Isles,’ said Mr Fallaize.
‘In the script there were scenes needed to be shot in a deserted location and having grown up in Guernsey, Herm was without a doubt the best place.
‘The back end of Shell Beach and its white sand were critical to the story.’
Mr Fallaize said that both the Guernsey and Herm residents had been helpful. The locals were brilliant,’ he said. ‘They were the best group of extras I have worked with. I have done a lot of filming in Hollywood and the extras there are quite demanding, but the Guernsey people couldn’t do enough. I remember a day of shooting and the weather was grey, but there was endless enthusiasm from them. It was perfect.’
The producer said that if the script called for it the Bailiwick would be used in future productions.
