Unhappy Ogier not holding high hopes

Wednesday 1st April 2009, 1:00PM BST.

0639405THERE are two contrasting moods in each camp before tonight’s Deloitte CI Champions League final.

St Martin’s are on a high after having a great second half to the season that saw them finish third in the league.

Whereas Bels, who Saints are meeting this evening at the Corbet Field, have had a terrible time in the last couple of months, which has seen them give up their league title to great rivals North.

Bels coach Micky Ogier admitted that there were problems at the Track.

‘I’m not very happy to be honest – only nine turned up to training last night,’ he said yesterday.

‘They told me they had things on. A few of them had genuine reasons.

‘[I think] it’s a lack of interest. I’ll be surprised if we get anything out of it [the final], the way it’s going.’

Ogier has already announced that he is stepping down from the post at the end of the season.

Bels have only two matches left this campaign – tonight’s final and next Thursday’s Crimestoppers Guernsey FA Cup, which is also against St Martin’s.

If Ogier can get his full available side out tonight, the only player he is missing through injury is AJ Saunders.

On the other hand, Saints will be without Marc McGrath and Billy Page.

The pair moved from Bels during the mid-season transfer window, which clearly triggered their old club’s demise, and are cup-tied.
