0663371GUERNSEY put their nightmare inter-insular performance behind them to make history and the final of the nationwide Hockey Association Trophy.

The Greens turned on the style on Sunday to win 3-1 at Bristol UWE and go through to the final of the competition for the first time.

‘A completely different side turned up this week,’ said Guernsey captain Andy Whalley.

‘We didn’t need to get the guys up for it, not that we had to in the inter-insulars, but they all knew that they had let themselves down last week. They all really, really wanted it this week.

‘We wanted to prove a point that we’re back in business.’

In the semi-final clash, Bristol took an early lead at a short corner before the island side hit back a couple of minutes later through a Ben Allberry drag flick.

Guernsey scored again shortly afterwards when the ostentatious Andy Alford followed up to score at yet another short.
