Le Noury breaks hour for first time
Wednesday 8th April 2009, 2:29PM BST.
CARL THOMSON had a clear win in the Bedell Cristin seven-mile road walk when he crossed the line in 54min. 40sec.
Second man home Jason Le Noury(pictured) accompanied him for two miles before Thomson eased away.
As expected, Le Noury broke the hour barrier for the first time and removed over five minutes from his personal best set in last year’s event. He now moves into the Guernsey all-time top 10 for the distance.
Last year’s winner Stuart Le Noury finished a distant third, just over a minute slower than his 2008 walk, but still came in under the hour mark.
Fourth man home Phil Lockwood will surely join them soon as he finished four minutes up on his last seven-mile walk.
Stalwarts Kevin Le Noury and Mick Le Sauvage finished ahead of leading female Jayne Le Noury, who recorded 79-51, while second woman home Kay Coulson got the better of Karen Sheppard by one second. Coulson removed three minutes from her last seven-miler.
