POLICE are urging motorists to be cautious following a number of incidents in which cling film has been stretched across main roads.
Half a dozen such incidents have been reported over the past few months.
Sergeant Stuart Ogier said the film, erected during the night, was a hazard to road users.
‘These incidents have not yet resulted in any accidents or injuries; however this is potentially very dangerous,’ he said.
Most recently, last weekend, cling film was stretched across the road in front of La Houguette School.
‘It was wrapped around lamp posts on either side of the road several times so it was three to four feet high in total,’ said Sgt Ogier.
He said those responsible should consider the consequences of their actions.
‘If an accident was to occur and serious injury was caused, this could result in their prosecution,’ he said.
Such incidents have been reported at Les Effards, outside Forest School and at Cobo.

I cannot believe no one has witnessed any of these actions, it would take 5/10 minutes to do and the roads are not clear of traffic at all times, so come on name and shame before someone is badly hurt.

…”If an accident was to occur and serious injury was caused, this could result in their prosecution,’ he said….
What other reason could there be for doing such a thing other than to cause an accident?!? I hope the police have carefully fingerprinted not only the clingfilm but also the surrounding area in order to put together a case.
Although I’m sure the intention is not to cause serious injury it is still obvious what the consequences could be and anyone caught should be prosecuted.

Well said Jonno. I hope people in Power read this… you never know they might. Lets hope we read about some postive action on this soon.

If they catch them they should be publicly shamed by stocks in Church Square

Pranksters. Funny.

John, naming and shaming them in the GP is better than anything the “stocks” could ever achieve -and prosecution always helps just as Jonno suggests.

not sure if you’re being sarcastic or not, Jackie.
