‘Ban is a good move – Spice is more addictive than real thing’
Thursday 9th April 2009, 1:00PM BST.
THERE have been mixed reactions among legal high users following the import/export ban announced on Tuesday.
The ban against businesses selling substances to the public has come as a result of the amount being used by individuals and Health and Social Services’ concerns over the harmful effects.
One frequent Spice user admitted that smoking the legal high was a worse experience than smoking cannabis.
‘It is a good thing that they have banned selling it,’ he said.
‘I have been using it every day as cannabis is not easily available and this is.
‘The ban is going to stop me using it. I have been waking up every day feeling half drunk, not being able to breathe properly, coughing up blood and black stuff. My joints ache and if I went without it for a couple of days I would have an upset stomach – I never had any of those effects on cannabis.’
The 22-year-old plasterer said that at his worst he was smoking five bags of Spice a week and spending £150.
And since he started smoking it he has become short-tempered and paranoid.

Are any members of the Policy Council secret Spicers?

His condition sounds a lot like “cannabinoid hyperemesis” which ironically is caused by regular-high cannabis use. It would not be surprising if the drugs had similar effects.
Good for him for giving it up.

quote “The 22-year-old plasterer said that at his worst he was smoking five bags of Spice a week and spending £150.”
no wonder he was ill, 5 bags of spice costs a lot less than £150, where are the facts?
There wont be any facts to the extent of how bad this spice is beacuse it is still a new thing on the ‘block’. So how can anyone predict the long term effect of smoking something, which by the way says not for human consumption surely that is enough to make you think twice?
Just look at the ingrediants on the pack or website and decide for yourself, is it really a sensible thing to be putting into you lungs?
Surely banning spice would just encourage stoners to use cannabis instead therefore getting them in more trouble and there will be another product labeled as ‘incense’ just with different ingrediants.

What a poorly written piece of opinion with no hard facts apart from a random man, who is a plasterer “why I want to know that is beyond me” who smokes too much. I’m sure if you spent £150 on cigarettes a week and smoked them all you would probably be in the same condition.
