TWO step-brothers who had saved their pocket money to buy micro scooters are distraught at their theft.
Les Beaucamps High pupil Jake Floyd, 13, and his stepbrother Kyle De La Mare, 11, who goes to St Martin’s School, had saved £39 each to buy the bikes from Adventure Cycles last Friday.
The pair decided to try out their new purchases on Sunday lunchtime and headed to the top car park at Manor Stores at 1.30pm, just yards away from their St Martin’s home.
‘Kyle fell off and hurt his knee so I ran back to help him and picked up both the scooters and put them just behind the cardboard recycling,’ said Jake, whose dad paid for his. He still has to pay him back – with no scooter to show for it.
He sat Kyle on the bank because it was more comfortable for his injured knee and returned to get the scooters.
‘When I went back to get them, they were gone,’ he said.
Kyle said they scoured the area around the bins for the scooters but they were nowhere to be seen.
‘We’ve got to start saving up our pocket money all over again now,’ said Kyle.
The boys are appealing to whoever took them to return them as soon as possible.
‘Please give them back because we don’t have anything to do for the rest of the holidays,’ said Jake.

Man oh Man – that is bad, however my pocket money used to let me buy penny chews and a Mars Bar.
Maybe Lyndon Trott is giving pocket money loans out?

A bit young to be out by themselves frankly- but it illustrates the need for people to be streetwise in Guernsey.

As soon as I read this article, I guessed no one told them what the recycle bins were for, hard lesson but at least they know now
