A NEW air route between Guernsey and Plymouth took off for the first time yesterday.
Air Southwest will be running the route, which will fly to and from Guernsey four times a week.
Among the passengers on board the first flight from Plymouth was Air Southwest’s managing director, Peter Davies.
‘We think this is a great opportunity to expand our network,’ he said.
‘Guernsey is a wonderful destination.’
Mr Davies was also joined by several travellers taking advantage of the new route.
Tourists Nick and Lynda Toms are visiting Guernsey for the first time.
‘We live just outside Plymouth,’ said Mr Toms, 53.
‘We have always wanted to come to the Channel Islands, so this was a good opportunity for a short break.’

Great news. Well done Air SouthWest. Now for all of those Guernsey people whining about not having enough routes – if you don’t support these initiatives they will disappear.
So how and where do we book?
