Conservation group fears for trees not on the list

SE5Q4985THERE are fears that islanders could chop down trees that do not appear on Environment’s Tree Protection Order list.

The Men of the Trees have expressed concern at the Environment Department’s recent listing of 46 protected trees.

This details trees across the island that cannot be felled. Those which have had planning applications to remove them rejected in the past are included.

However, Men of the Trees chairman Bob Paine (pictured) was worried that the new orders would do more harm than good.

‘I think it is fair to say we are very concerned about these new orders,’ he said.

‘There is no doubt it will make it easier to get trees removed in the short run. They are not well protected unless they are already subject to a key preservation order.

‘Hedges will be better protected than trees. That’s how it will work out. We are watching how things develop with interest.’

Jackie; a little bit cheeky there, but then again they asked for it.

What they meant I’m sure was 46 varieties–

Did you know that an Oak tree is 50 years old before it produces acorns. not bad really. some Oaks are hundreds of years old,

So in human form babies could have offspring.

Well have to be a little cheeky as well; I love all you Girls, but can’t let you get away with it all the time,

More women in the States; (that way we’ll have peace and quiet for a few hours,. ha ha ,.

Just joking Jackie; but not about being in Government,.

    That’s crazy!
There must be more than that in Sausmarez park alone.
And all the tress on the South like down to Saints, Petit Bot and so on.

Methinks time has come as the walrus said:
To talk of many things that these daft people bring up, just to get their names in print
