‘Forget Guernsey – focus on those not on white list’
Tuesday 14th April 2009, 1:00PM BST.
POWERFUL nations should focus more on financial centres under their own jurisdiction rather than Guernsey, according to the Guernsey International Business Association.
An article in the Times Online stated that Prime Minister Gordon Brown was to write to Guernsey calling for more transparency from the island.
That was despite Guernsey receiving the endorsement of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development, which placed the island on a white list of cooperative jurisdictions following the G20 summit.
Chief Minister Lyndon Trott (pictured) said he had not received any correspondence from the PM, but confirmed he would be signing more tax information exchange agreements during the next few weeks.
Giba chairman Steve Le Page welcomed the announcement that more agreements were in the pipeline.
‘Giba is well aware that being placed on the white list was by no means the end of the work that needs to be done.’
He said Giba was hopeful of the island completing full double taxation treaties in the future.

Voice For Victims
Voice for Victims is a campaign aimed at promoting the rights of those affected by child sexual abuse.
Our Guernsey representatives don’t get it, do they? The UK, US and others are looking to take co-ordinated action to reign back a lot of the more imaginative tax avoidance schemes and cut back on what they see as tax leakage. Being on the White list is more akin to “necessary but not sufficient”.

Oh Boy; what a statement to make as head of a ruling body.
I bet CM would like folk to step aside to some other lot; so long as they keep clear of Guernsey; then to be delved into as bad as the Spanish inquistion;
It stands out a mile: you do not want an Inquiry
Forget us we have good clean hands : Maybe so; but your conscience isn’t lily-white.

Forget further letters to their beloved pm, except for one ,to tell them that guernsey will be declaring itself independant from the uk and they can start by removing their queens representitive in the form of the lieutenant governer ,not a slur on the man himself as he is a thouroughly nice bloke but the position is outdated and no longer required ,this serves as a message to the english that we dont need or welcome their interferance in our affairs which is none of their business .we can also save a fortune on vin d’honeurs and also sell the house to a local rich businessman for half of what its worth ,only problem is that when “go it alone” is mentioned up comes the thorny problem of allegiance to the crown well thats easily sorted ,guernsey owes absolutley no allegiance to the current crown ,it did when england was ruled by our norman ancestors but thats another story . under the current english umbrella is it right that our constitution is continually under fire ,thats not protection thats war !! so tell em where to get off lyndon ,or should i, and other proper guernsey people write to gordon ?

My word Davee.
a man after my own heart;
It’s true we owe nothing to the English nothing!
On the contrary they owe us much.
Determined as they were to Join the EU: they,( as they have done many times to other countries)
decided to feed us to the sharks.
The Dutch and the Spaniards wanted the Tomato and flower trade; we Guernsey had the best tomatoes anywhere; but we were sold down the river.
Then Like a Judas kiss they Let” us have ‘Tax Havens’ Knowing full well that should there be any skirmish about them, They would sit back like some Virgin Girl and say “We’re innocent” they wanted it not us.
With PM as England has now; the Scots must be seething about how they cannot also get Independent with a traitorous PM.

Eric
Take heart as you can get tomatoes that smell and taste something like those in Guernsey in the 1960s.
Only problem they are on the Isle of Wight. And we have some large Guernsey herds to boot. We also have Guernsey children fostered on the Isle of Wight!!!
