NICK SAUNDERS triumphed in the first hill climb of the season on Le Val des Terres yesterday.

There were no surprises as the 35-year-old registered the quickest time of the day with 30.85sec. in his single seater EI Sturdza Reynick racing car.

‘I’ve got to be pleased with that,’ said the IT worker afterwards.

‘It’s a good start to the season with a reasonable time as well. I’m very pleased to start the year like that. I can’t complain.’

The fastest time in which Saunders has climbed the hill is 29.60.

He said he wants to be hitting those sorts of times more often as he looks forward to the season ahead.

‘The aim is just to go quicker,’ he said.

‘I’d like to get back into the 29s to show that I can do them regularly, but we’ll see.’
