ROVERS have drawn up a three-year plan with the aim of turning the club into a force at first-team level.

The plan, initiated by under-14 coach John Waterman, covers playing strength, the need for new senior coaches, improving training facilities and better integration of the club’s successful youth structure with the senior set-up at Port Soif.

‘You’d think that after the senior season we’ve had, people would be downbeat at Port Soif,’ said Waterman.

‘The response to the three-year plan has meant that there has been a real buzz about the place.

‘People have reappeared out of the woodwork, our senior players have all backed it and confirmed that they will be staying at the club and our under-16s, who won their league, are all firmly on board too.

‘They know it’s their football future we are building for.’

Waterman said that many elements in the three-year plan were already well advanced, particularly on training and coach development.

The club is actively seeking a new senior coach – current coach Gary Stevenson will stay involved with first team matters and it is hoped will work alongside a new appointment.

Best of luck to these guys. Rovers had to do something, they’ve got some good young players and a great minis set-up – they’ve got to get it moving into the senior set-up.
