THE BSJA’s show season got off to a cracking start this weekend and non more so than for the Gervaise-Brazier sisters, Samantha and Tiffany, who put in some great rounds to earn themselves the leading senior and junior rider awards respectively.

The weather did not dampen the enthusiasm of competitors for the first day of competition over local course designer Barry Besnard’s technical track, which demanded skill and concentration from the riders in order to get their mounts around in the time allowed.

In the junior classes on the first day, Mystical Blue and Sarah Jackson were successful in the novice class, a full second quicker in the jump-off from Catherine Gaudion on Attyrorycushy who had to settle for second place.

In the jump-off for the 0.80m class, Sophie Burbridge on Master Tigger, with the advantage of jumping last in the class, fairly flew around the track only to have the last fence down for four faults.

That left Faye Domaille and Matilda’s Rocket to take first place with the only clear round.

The senior classes were very well supported and consequently hotly contested on both days and spectators were treated to some great jumping.
