MICK LE PREVOST was left wondering what might have been after his North side lost 2-1 to St Paul’s in Saturday’s Upton Park Trophy at Springfield.

Simon Tostevin had given the visitors a 10th-minute lead but Craig Leitch equalised before half-time and Craig Russell grabbed Saints’ winner on 80min.

‘I’m absolutely gutted. That’s twice I’ve been down to Jersey for the Upton and I’ve lost twice now,’ said North coach Le Prevost.

‘In the first half we played really well and we scored early on.

‘They also cleared the ball off the line from Darren Martin and if that had gone in that would have closed the game.

‘It went pear-shaped in the second half for both teams and I said to the boys on the bench “the team to score will win” and unfortunately it was St Paul’s.’

In expressing his disappointment, Le Prevost reiterated his annoyance that his side had not had a competitive fixture for five weeks before the Channel Islands club championship match.
