ATHLETICS FC have called on their first major signing to model the kit which will be on view in top-flight local football next season.
Kevin Graham, the lynchpin of the Muratti defence last season, is to come out of retirement to work in a player-coach role under manager Steve Ogier.
It is a move which excites both men.
Ogier said: ‘To secure the services of a player of Kevin’s standard is a major coup for us.
‘His knowledge and experience of the game both in the island and the UK is second to none.
‘He is also passionate about what the “Tics” are trying to achieve for the young players of Guernsey, by giving the opportunity to play and compete off island with the possibility of being scouted.’
Graham, who does not plan to play on a regular basis but will if necessary – he will be happy to be on the bench – said he has joined the ‘Tics’ as he believes in the club’s development plan and ethos to develop young talent.
‘This is a project that has Guernsey’s footballing future at its heart, and because of that I’m more than happy to help where I can.’
