Rihoy escapes a Muratti final ban

0739630DAVE RIHOY (pictured) is available for the Muratti final.

His appeal hearing cannot be heard before the end of the season and the Bels star was last night named in the 18-man squad.

Manager Tony Vance said it was only right that he should, despite the threat of a ban after his controversial straight red by Jersey ref Andy Legg in the semi-final against Alderney.

‘I’m pleased and relieved he’s available,’ said Vance, who has long considered the dismissal as plainly wrong.

‘He’s an important player for us.

‘Looking at the footage it confirmed my belief that he landed on him and was wrongly sent off.  He landed on him and didn’t stamp on the player.’

Vance, meanwhile, last night told training squad members who was in and out of the 18 for the game against Jersey at the Track on Sunday week.

One slight surprise is the presence of Tom Le Tissier, although Nathan Pattimore is absent through injury.

‘Pruning the squad was extremely difficult to be honest,’ said the coach.
