Stables gives a boost

GUERNSEY softball has something to cheer about with the appointment of a development officer.
The sport has been through something of a bad patch of late with the news that due to a lack of interest, there will be no men’s fast-pitch competition this year.
However, the Guernsey Softball Association has just announced that Sam Stables will become the sport’s first development officer in the island.
‘If we don’t get more kids playing, the sport will die altogether,’ said Stables (pictured).
The Les Beaucamps High PE teacher will run training sessions on Monday evenings throughout the summer for school Years 7 and above starting at the beginning of next month.
Information about the sessions has been circulated around the schools but if anyone requires more details, Stables can be contacted on sstables@lesbeaucampshigh.sch.gg.
It is hoped that one day the juniors will join the senior leagues that this season begin in earnest this weekend.
