Jersey Senator Philip OzoufMORE than a dozen areas in which Guernsey and Jersey could better cooperate have been identified.

Following talks, Jersey’s Economic and Development minister Philip Ozouf and Guernsey’s Treasury minister Charles Parkinson have committed to greater cooperation.

‘The economic downturn has catalysed discussions for how we can be more efficient by working together,’ said Senator Ozouf. ‘And I have found a very competent and good political partner in Deputy Parkinson.

‘Talk has been cheap and now we need to roll our sleeves up.

‘Times have changed – we have a real drive and determination to work together, to be much more rigorous and detailed and dedicate time and resources to move the cooperation agenda forward, with the objective of efficiency and savings for both islands.’

    Oh Really!

    Now that amazes me:

In the 1600s when we asked for co-operation against Charles the 1ST, we got the finger from Jersey.

When Oliver Cromwell was about we joined his wishes; Jersey stood by Charlie Boy.

And now they say we can work together; Great jokers are the Jersey lot.

In my opinion, humble as it may be– I believe in that saying by a learned man.

Giving money and power to Governments, is like giving whisky and car keys to teen-age boys.

Therefore Governments are just a great fiction; Through which everybody endeavours to live at the expense of everybody else.

And I do not make jokes—I just watch government-then report the facts
