DEPUTY MIKE O’HARA has reeled in a turbot weighing close to 17 pounds that is up for fish of the month.

The Culture and Leisure minister caught the beauty on the Roman Bank off Sark recently while on board friend Richard Seager’s boat ‘Out of the Blue’.

O’Hara is a keen fisherman and tries go out at least once a month.

It was the biggest flat fish he has ever caught, weighing in at 16-10-8.

‘I do like to fish and this was a big fish, a nice fish,’ he said.

‘When I pulled it in, it was shaking its head a lot and I thought it could have been a bass. But as it came up we realised it was a “flatty”.

‘It might come out on top [of fish of the month]. I don’t know.’
