East Midlands bookings a source of Aurigny optimism

Friday 1st May 2009, 2:29PM BST.

Malcolm HartAURIGNY managing director Malcolm Hart is cautiously optimistic that its new service to East Midlands will be a success.

He said bookings for flights in May had exceeded expectations.

The number which are full had risen to 53%, he said.

But he said that the service, which operates from today, might not last if bookings dropped.

‘If the service doesn’t meet its targets we would review it and stop it if it was a disaster, but nothing has implied that so far.’

It is hoped the route will strengthen connections for businessmen and women who need to travel to the area, as well as families who could take advantage of the sport on offer and tourist attractions.

‘Sales for this new service have been going really,’ said Mr Hart (pictured).

An additional 8.55am service to Gatwick had also proved very popular, he said.
