A CELEBRITY angler was in Guernsey on Saturday answering islanders’ questions.
Mike Thrussell, who has written for many fishing magazines and has featured on BBC radio, was asked to come over for an open day at Mick’s Fishing Supplies.
Mr Thrussell also designs fishing rods for Pure Fishing Ltd, which the Guernsey shop stocks.
Budding anglers were able to ask him about the designs and products.
He said it was his first time in Guernsey, but he had visited Jersey and Alderney before.
‘What a place it is to fish here,’ he said. ‘I have known about Guernsey’s fishing for a while and it’s mentioned in many magazines, which really puts the island on the map.
‘For some reason – perhaps it’s due to global warming – there are much more unusual fish in the waters here and there is also a high quality of angler.’
He said it was important that the Channel Islands continued to promote the quality of fishing in their waters.
